How Much Damage Can A Central Florida Water Leak Cause?

How much damage can a small water leak cause? The driver of a Chevy Malibu that fell into a large hole in the middle of the road earlier this month quickly found out!

As rescue crews got on scene they found the front end of the vehicle deep in a hole, while the entire back end was raised up in the air.

No, it’s not a sinkhole, like many local residences suspected. This six foot deep hole was caused by a small leak in the water main.

This forced the evacuation of two apartment complexes. Approximately 30 feet of ground beneath the unit was washed out.

Officials repaired the break in the pipe and filled in the hole.  They are investigating further to determine the structural integrity of the buildings close to the scene.

So, how important is it for a homeowner to be proactive about water leaks.

It is easy to think, it's just a harmless water leak, but there's no such thing! Whether it's outside in your yard, or inside your home or business, leaks can cause drinking water to become contaminated, mold, and property damage. Unfortunately, some leaks go undetected until there is major damage.

Damaged pipes can be difficult to locate because they are buried underground, run under concrete slabs, under floors and behind walls.

That's why the Leak Doctor uses the latest electronic equipment to locate leaks without digging up your yard, tearing down walls or tunneling under the floor.

As our plumbing system ages, they corrode and break down, this is usually when leaks start.  They begin as a small pinhole leak, dripping day in and day out, over time this can cause significant damage to any property
