Atlanta/Orlando; How To Find A Hidden Plumbing-Water Leak

Homeowners in Central Florida have many plumbing and water leak questions. Here are a few of the most popular ones we receive at the Leak Doctor.

What is the difference between the Leak Doctor and a Plumbing Company?

A quality leak detection company has made the investment into tens of thousands of dollars for technician training and specialized equipment to locate a variety of leaks in different situations.  Our goal is to identify the exact source of the water damage.

We are also licensed plumbers, which means we have the training, skills, and tools needed to repair your leak on the spot to minimize the damages.

The bottom line is, having a specialist pinpointing the problem before excavation can save a lot of money.

My water bill is higher than usual, does that mean I have a water leak?

You may have a water leak. You may want to inspect your home. Check under the cabinets for any leaks or moisture, listen for any water running when all the water is turned off, check all hose connections, water meter, and outside spigot.

Also test the water meter. First, make sure all valves are turned off and there are no leaking faucets or toilets. Then, you want to locate your meter box, which is typically located in front of your property near the street. Carefully remove the lid and raise the cap on the meter dial. The display dial is similar to a clock; locate the red triangle at the lower left side of the dial on the meter. The triangle should not be turning, unless you are using water. If the triangle is turning, you may have a leak.

How does your water leak detection process work?

Your leak will be located using a number of electronic leak detectors. Leak Doctor uses cutting edge technology combining equipment and techniques developed in-house with and the best training available. Equally important is the experience of our technicians. Our technicians receive continuous hands-on training at our state-of-the-art training facility.
